Entering Mongolia!!! Irkutsk, ulaanbatar and around

hey it was a very scenery drive out of Irkutsk. first I went on a detour to Listvjanka, to see lake baikal, i hade to return the same way. as I still had to wait for my hard drive to be delivered in Irkutsk. and yes on my way back got a massage that my hard drive was in the post office.

it was already around 1700 when I left Irkutsk, so knew I would go far this day. so went looking for a spot near lake Baikal. and what an beautiful lake it is! unlike the north with snow caped mountains on one site. and still some ice in some places.

the road followed the lake for a while, and went to a beautiful monetary. I was planning to spend the night here but didn't feel like it. made some pics and drove on. still looking for a nice place to camp. I found a nice place only after Ulan ude. so I was near the Mongolian border. a bit earlier than I wanted. but nevertheless erodes the next day.

iam in Mongolia! so what to do? I heard about a nice monastery about half way to Ulaaanbatar. so went for it. the day ended in a 35/40 drive on rough surface. but I can't complain as the locals drive an Prius on this road. The Prius accounts for about 40% of the cars here I think.

after visiting Ulaanbatar heading east not knowing what to see. I had to go back to UB to pick up my Sister in a week. and are planning to visit the main sites together. and on my furtherst point I wanted to go to a museum that turned out to be closed.
