The drive out of Saint Petersburg was quite easy. I used maps.me, with I great I found now, it got me in to the city with ease and to the correct address quickly. first stop was an 'Lenta' an Hypermarket. I found out this one was just a small supermarket. but had what I needed supplies for the road. Bread batteries etc.

It all when great using the maps.me, I set it to Irkurkst. a city near lake Baikal. the route looked good as I wanted to bypass Moscow by the north and join the major highway to Lake Baikal further east in Russia. around 1800 I was looking for a campsite, Maps.me send me to to the right into a semi ok road. Still looked it good be an highway tho. went threw a big city and was still looking for a campsite and suddenly saw another 'Lenta' this time a big one with a major parking lot underneath. In the USA that is a thing camping in front off the hypermarket with are open 24/7, so though I will try the same here. and went in to get something to eat.

My first night sleep was one. woke up a couple off times, and the 'noise' died out around 2330 as Russians are not night people I already found out in Saint Petersburg which is deserted after 2300.

The next day continued the road Maps had plant for me. this quickly began an road to nothing with potholes everywhere and had to slow down to 30kph at some points. after an 100km or so I decided I had enough and took out my analogue map said maps goodby and tried to get to a proper highway, another 100 km of dreadful road... in the end looked in the lonely planet and there was an attraction nearby and found an hostel there to sleep in for the night.

ps. the dumpling I bought for dinner are supposed the be frozen when you steam them. I had to deal with one big clump of dough and filling. :)
