It took a awhile before I was able drive of the ferry the way was blocked with cargo as all the space on the ferry was used. but soon I was driving in Finland.

As it was a 400 km drive to Saint Petersburg. it didn't take long to reach the Russian border, A border I was a little afraid off. I have never driven a car out of the Schengen area, and don't know exactly how these things work.

In the end I crossed within minutes on the Finnish side and 1,5 hour on the Russian side due to some refilling of paper work from my site. While waiting it stated poring rain that didn't stop until the next morning.

Also heard a lot about the Russian traffic. its true that it takes getting used to. for instance; I was expected to move towards the shoulder when being over taken. and I will be thanked by blinking the emergence lighting ones. Also learned that going of the highway can mean within 30 meters your on a washboard road. I went off to look for ATM in a town, on 1 side there where bungalows witch a big fence and a barrier. the other site had 4 homes and the second worst road had seen in my life. so gave that attempt up.

Ones in St. Petersburg I expected a lot of traffic as I was arriving around 1700. but as it turns out traffic is light and found a parking spot with ease where I booked a couple off night in a hostel. even the roads in the city are big, usually 2 lanes each direction, which is 1 more than the highway I was driving. and wide enough for a big car like mine.
