hey,

I recently did a a 4x4 course here in the Netherland, given by my family for my birthday. Its was great and exiting. the course for me was a lot about howe an al train vehicle would handle on different terrain, as I have never driven proper off road. turned out the had an veeeerrrry old Land Rover prepared. for me to go try the mud and hills and sort. and the best thing was it was left hand drive, a first for me. getting those gear with my left hand is difficult. and no mirrors so had to rely on my co driver with was the instructor in our case. also did some theory beforehand (boring, no mud splashing around). and had a go at guiding drivers. as wheel placement can be quite important on difficult terrain.

I have also been working on a planned route. I would start by taking a ferry to Helsinki from where I would drive to St Petersburg. and from there a route towards lake baikal, preferably going north of Moskou and skipping it this time. (I have been there before, and feel like don't have to go there again) lake Baikal and area however I found very beautiful. but didn't have a good chance to see it last time as I planed my train journey quite fast. so would be great to visit again. from there travel more south to ulaanbataar.

then it would be Central Asia time; Kazachstaan/ Pamirs mountains. and back then back to the flats of the Kazakhstan to catch a ferry across the Caspian sea from Aqtua to Azerbaijan. (route above doesn't show ferry) then already returning to Europe via Georgie and Turkey. (maybe catch an ferry across the black sea here to roemenia)
